Aerial Yoga

Aerial yoga can seem a little bit scary at the beginning, as all new things can feel a little bit scary, but confidence blossoms when we feel how supportive and fun this practice can be! Aerial yoga can be tailored in many different ways depending on what we need most.

Aerial Vinyasa Flow:
Just as with a mat yoga practice, we can use the hammock as a prop to support both traditional and more contemporary yoga poses, on the ground and off. It can add layers of challenge, but also be extra supportive for exploring balance or depth of movement.

Aerial Yoga Stretch:
This can be explored with either a typical hammock height or with a low hammock closer to the ground, spending longer in the body, taking the time to gently open deeper into spaces. This can be a nourishing way to come back to movement, there is a lot of control over how and where to move.

Aerial Yin Yoga:
Using the aerial hammock to support the body into long hold shapes (5mins+) that let you really let go so the deeper work of Yin can begin. A wonderful space to explore meditation, mind body connection, and strengthens/supports the fascia and connective tissues of the body with gentle stress.

Aerial Restorative Yoga:
Coming into cosy comfy poses, and taking time to go inward, a very gentle stretch might be found in some shapes but ultimately looking for the body to be held and supported as much as possible as a really nourishing experience.

Aerial Strengthen and Sculpt:
A super challenging and fun way to get stronger and support mobility. Using repeating movements of the body to challenge our edge; this can include standing, seated, laying or even hanging upside down positions! Expect chaturanga, goddess, reverse table top, boat, high lunge and more, building strength in the whole body.

Aerial Play:
There are many playful elements to aerial practice, particularly the ability to learn to navigate being 360. Taking space to practice a more acrobatic way of being, flips and tricks of the hammock that challenge strength, co-ordination and proprioception to achieve amazing feats and unleash our inner child!

Aerial Yoga Nidra:
Do you feel like savasana in the best part of the class? Yoga Nidra in the hammock is next level relaxation. A gorgeous floaty experience to drift away being led on a Nidra journey, to leave you renewed and nourished from deep within. Nidra is known as the Yogic Sleep, a guided visualisation that draws you into a dream like state letting the body find a deep state of waking rest.
