The act of stillness. The being rather than the doing.
Yin is a really powerful and challenging practice, not because the shapes or poses are really complex, but because they are held for anywhere between 2 and 20 minutes. It is not about finding an active stretch, but about letting the body move into a passive space, so that the connective tissues of the body experience some compressive tension. This helps to keep them stronger and hydrated for long term flexibility.

This branch of yoga overlays with understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine, allowing targeted work tying physical and emotional health into the benefits of the practice, boosting and supporting organ energy systems of the body. It also offers an opportunity to find silence and stillness, a moving inward of the self to find ease of being.
